Q: Do I have to be a Member to host an event here?

A: No, we are open to the general public for events of all kinds.

Q: Do you have a room for the bride/groom to get ready?
A: Yes, we do. This room has a multi-faceted mirror, a restroom nearby, and the ability to lock the door for privacy. 

Q: Do you have the ability to enhance our wedding reception with technology to make it more meaningful?
A: We have technical items that can enhance the bride's day and drop down screens that allow the bride to display her photos from her own computer with a simple plug-in. We also have uplighting and stage lighting that can match her bridal colors.

Q: Can I have a pet at my wedding?
A: No, the health department will not allow pets on the premises.

Q: Where can I take photos on my wedding day?
A: We have a foyer that has some area for photos, and photos may be taken anywhere in the hall that you rent.

Q: Do you allow flame candles?
A: No, guidelines from the fire department require that all flames be encased.

Q: Do you allow sparklers or fireworks?
A: No.

Q: Can I store my dessert or food in your refrigerator?
A: Yes, but you must make arrangements with our General Manager, Paul Arbanas, at (616) 534-3089.

Q: Should I hire a wedding planner?
A: You can, but it would be a low priority, and you may be fine without one.

Q: Will the staff set up my decorations, or do I have to do it on my own?
A: Staff does not set up decorations, but you can do it on your own (contact the General Manager, Paul Arbanas at (616) 534-3089 for rules) or contact Creative Events at 616-677-2011 (ask for Nancy) or Caridad’s Fashions at 616-328-9444 (ask for Nereyda).

Q: Do you have decorations that we can use?

Q: Can I use confetti or glitter for my ceremony?
A: No.

Q: Can I use flower petals for my ceremony?
A: Yes.

Q: Can I bring in my favorite drink, alcohol, or food?
A: No, you cannot, but we can special order and supply you with your favorite, liquor, beer or food. We have 9 separate taps in the bar if you would like a special beer.

Q: Is the service charge included in my total cost?
A: Yes.

Q: When can I check into my hotel room?
A: We have three hotels which border our property offering a combined 340 rooms for rent at a special event rate. Call Holiday Inn Express at (616) 531-5400, Towneplace by Marriott at (616) 531-0300, or Hampton Inn at (616) 261-5500 for details - mention your event is with us!

Q: What if I need to do shopping or have last minute needs?
A: There is a Meijer (open 24 hours), Target, Menards, and Gordon Food Service within a half mile of our location.

Q: Is there entertainment for younger members of our group prior to the reception?
A: Craigs Cruisers is a half mile north of our location. They have go-carts, miniature golf, and much more. Woody’s Bowling Alley is also nearby.

Q: Is there any local late-night entertainment?
A: Downtown Grand Rapids is 13 miles away. It’s just a 17-minute drive down Route 131, with easy access from 54th or 68th Street.

Q: How about airport and transportation?
A: The Gerald Ford International Airport is 12.2 miles from our location. Taxi service and Uber are also available.

Q: Can we get in early to set the hall?
A: Yes, usually we have the day reserved for you to decorate, but check with our General Manager, Paul Arbanas, at (616) 534-3089. You may also come in earlier the day of the event.

Q: Can we have the wedding in your location on the day of the event?
A: Yes, the hall is able to accommodate both both wedding and receptions. 

Q: What is included in the “Special Package” reception fee?
A: The “Special Package” fee includes the room rental, food, bar, chair and table rental, and table coverings. Contact our General Manager, Paul Arbanas, at (616) 534-3089 to discuss menu details.

Q: Can you take the leftover food?
A: You will receive all food you have paid for.

Q: Are you allowed a live band?
A: Yes.

Q: Where do I go for a marriage license?
A: A marriage license may be obtained through the Kent County Clerk. There is a fee of $20.00 dollars for county residents and $30.00 for out-of-state residents. Visit accesskent.com for more details.
